What turbo?
Just wondering which turbo would you suggest? Bone stock unopen 60,000 mile motor ,hot wired, 340m ,accufab reg, 40lbs red top injectors,3"dp,2 1/2 hookers,no cat,big neck stock ic,TT chip, stock tranny and D5 convetor. Mostly street driving but does see some track time.

Well, with the D5 converter, you are kind of limited. The biggest most would go (I'm speculating) would be a TE-44, or maybe a TA-49, or whatever the equivalent is today. In the past I went with a 51, but then again, with my setup, I never minded having a little turbo lag. It kept me from boiling the hides.
If you want to spend the extra coin on a ball bearing unit, then you might be able to go a little bigger. BUT, that extra money might be better spent on a better converter. (I love the ball bearing units though.) If you were to upgrade the converter, then that would open you up to a whole lot more options. However, you would have to figure in the cost of a new set of injectors too, because with only 40#ers you aren't going to get much more out of a bigger turbo, except maybe a few more dollars spent on head gaskets. Just my opinion. And you know what they say about those. Your best bet would be to give ole Jack a whistle, tell him what you have, and where you want to go with it, and he can give you a clear path to take. If he does suggest a 44 or 51, I have both sitting in boxes that I am going to sell someday. I'd give you a good deal, and you could use the money you saved for more upgrades. One other thing to keep in mind: With the technology today, you can get some BIG injectors, and it will run real well on a chip, so don't go up a size then up a size, then up a size. Go for the biggest. I think right now, the 60# injectors are the largest you can run with a stock unmodified computer. Don't waste your time with anything smaller. The same goes for turbos. Sort of. If you plan on getting deep into the 11s, but want to do it slowly, don't spend the money on a 44 then go to a 51 then a 62 then a 66BB. (That's kind of the path that I took.) Think ahead. Here is the 'Sort of' part: If you go too big on your turbo for the rest of your combo, you will have lag and the car will go slower, so for the turbo you may want to go in steps. Just take big steps, that's all. Confused? I am.
