Default E85 in Alcohol Injection System?

has anyone tried substituting E85 for methanol in alcohol injection system?

The issue is the petroleum content in the E85. The systems are designed around chemicals not petroleums. Issue one is the reservoir.. then the pump..

Aren't they all hydrocarbons? The reservoir should be easy to fix. What is in the pump that is not compatible with gasoline?

Hehehe, I love ya man..... you are so right in your approach... now if we can dig Julio out of ocean and me out of a snowbank, maybe we can figure it out.. 6-8" of snow down here and still snowing like crazy... anybody need some tuneup work in a warmer climate..

well two issues. One is the pump has a diaphram made of a material called "Santoprene" The other choice is a material called "Geolast". Both of these materials are not rated for petroleum. As a matter of fact, the number one killer of these pumps in my experience, has been the use of some sort of petroleum mixed with the alcohol. The diaphram shrinks on the pump.. next thing happens is it develops a leak.

If the E-85 were to be done, I would use one of the newer EFI pumps.. like those on the 04 Cobra. The reservoir would need to be changed to a different type of material. Aside from those two, I cant see any other issue.
