Default Violent surging upon cold start????

When I start my 1986 TR it surges for about 2-3 minutes until it warms up? The coolant temp sensor is within specs, ATS within specs, TPS is .44.

Also once the car is warmed up, When I shift to park the idle races very high, then it slowly comes down. In general it seems the idle is kind of high. I just replaced the IAC and no change.

The car is very slow to spool. But once it does it rips.

My setup: Reman engine with 10,000 miles, Walbro 255, FP hotwire, stock turbo, LT1 MAf with Translator, GN1 cold air intake, 42lb injectors, stock trans. Scanmaster. 115k southern car.

What are your IAC counts warm in gear and warm idle?

Sounds like your min idle screw is turned up a bit too much. Brian is right on in the IAC area. Most likely the throttle blade is open too much, basically raising the idle too high for the IAC to be able to control it..
