Cool

EGR is Exhaust Gas Recirculation.
It was implemented for emmissions reasons. When cylinder
temperature exceeds 2500 deg F, oxides of nitrogen are produced.
To prevent this, automakers would introduce a small amount of the exhaust
back into the intake to displace some of the oxygen entering the engine thus
quenching some of the combustion and keeping cylinder temps down to a
non polluting level. However, this is undesirable in a performance engine.
You add larger turbos and intercoolers to increase the the density of your
cylinder charge. Why have an EGR valve that only counter acts your goal.
Yes, there is an advantage to deleting the EGR valve.
