Evac pump

Some guys are using the LT1 smog pump as an evac pump. Here’s the question: Any issues hooking it directly to the dip stick tube instead of the valve cover(s)? Pump pulls about 5” of vacuum.

It's not an area we have felt neccessary to go. I really don't have any experience with them. But I will say.... hooking to the dipstick may result in sucking oil out of the pan. I am of the philosophy of keeping it simple. If an "upgrade" does not make a real and documented differance in performance, I don't do it.

Completely understand what you are staying. Let’s assume the pump does not suck oil via the tube. With 5" of vacuum is that too much where the mains etc may become oil starved? I believe mechanical evac pumps can pull 15"+.

I honestly couldn't answer that one. Sounds like a question for Bobby...
