Holy crap Jerrry with a G. You got me all excited. For a minute there, I thought you had news for me. I am also Brian L. I was wondering how you got my car out of my trailer.

OK, back to the thread sorry for the interruption. Oh yeah, and it looks great.

P.S. Did you ever get those shirts??

My car

Nice photo's of my car! Could even see a bit of the new front brakes installed! Keep em comming! Can't wait to see the engine compartment cleanup. The valve cover gasket's have been leaking oil all over the place.

Brian:)

Nice

Love the rust treatment your doing to the car! Hope you can do the same to the front end and & wheel wells. I'm looking to keep this car for a long time.

Also, are we going with a front mount intercooler?

And since I want the AC to work well, (you can see I have a new compressor installed) can you take a look at the condensor to see if I needs to be replaced while you have access? I would think if the radiator had a leak, it won't be long before the condensor will go. The few days I had the car with the AC working, it still didn't work that well.

Thanks,

Brian

Rear Disc Brakes

Maybe I should go with rear disc brakes too since it looks like I'm going to need all new drum parts anyway?

Night Train 08-11-2010 02:10 PM

Unless you have a Transbrake, you will be able to hold more boost on the line with good drum brakes. I don't think Disc brakes on the rear are as good for drag racing.

JCotton1 08-11-2010 02:42 PM

actually guys, we've already done the rear brakes with new drums, shoes and whl cyls. Looks good and yes, I agree with Bob. But since this is probably more of a street car... the stock rear brakes really are darn good...

Frame Notch

Hey, Jack. Could you post some photo's of the frame notching? And maybe even some of the new tires & rims?

Thanks,

Brian:)

Update

My car seems to be 95% done. Think we can wrap it up soon?

Brian.

Sorry, didn't get back to you sooner, tire choice is kickin my azzzz. I'm checking some more out tomorrow. Damn 16" choices aren't like pickin out 15".... tires.

Bri5150 08-26-2010 04:36 PM

notch

notching, steering leak and front bushings are complete? only tires are left?

Bri5150 08-26-2010 11:14 PM

Tires

Jack, the tire size's you gave me are

Front - 245/50 16
Rear - 295/50 16

I'm still looking, but can't find a matching set of front & rear. BF Goodrich makes
a 295/50 16 Radial T/A, (which I think is perfect) but no matching front in 245/50 16. I called BF Goodrich direct and they are calling me back tomorrow. If they say I can go with a mis-matched set of front & rear and won't effect safety, I'm going to go with....

BF Goodrich g-Force Super Sport A/S 245/50 16 Front
BF Goodrich Radial T/A 295/50 16 Rear

I also called Centerline Wheels (where I got the rims) and he asked if I could go up or down with those sizes. Like to a 285 or 305. Or +/- on the 50. I said I had no idea an would ask you. If so, please give me an example since I have no idea about tire size for my current setup. Just so I have an option to look for. Centerline is also calling me back tomorrow after they look into it.

Brian.

Tires

Ordered tires today (Friday 4pm) shipping from Connecticut. TireRack.com said you should have them Monday or Tues. (Fast shipper!)

2 - 245/50ZR -16 BFGoodrich g-Force Super Sport A/S
2 - 295/50R-16 BFGoodrich Radial T/A

Let me know how the offset's workout. If its better to send them back, they said all I would have to pay for is shipping with a one day turn around in the shop. If all is good, maybe pickup car at the end of the week?

Bri5150 09-01-2010 07:51 PM

notching

Jack, now that you have the tires, how are we on the fit? Do I need a notch, spacer or do I need to ship them back to change the offset. That will take a week or so turn around so if I need to send them back, lets do it. Please give me an update.

Brian

Brian's car has taken a 180* since it got here... it's looking great!

Bri5150 09-04-2010 10:25 PM

Sweet

Looks great! Can't wait to drive it again. I have a few questions for you.

I'd like to get a 5 gallon can of methanol when I pick up my car. How long can I store methanol in my garage without a problem?

Do you have a wheel well trim to replace my damaged one? Would be good to have it on the car before I have it painted.

You told me your son noticed a shifting problem when he took it out for a test drive. I 'think' you said it was holding in gear when he was stopping. What was it, and has this problem been fixed?

If my car can be ready either this Thursday or Friday, I have someone who can give me a ride to get my car. Let me know if we are still on track to finish up by Sept 9th or 10th.

Brian L.

Brian L.

JerrywithaG 09-14-2010 03:00 PM

how's the car Brian? Got any pictures? i'm sure you gave it a good washing

Bri5150 09-14-2010 05:13 PM

Jack still has my car. It needed some smoothing out before I take it.
