Catalytic converter?
 
Can i take the Catalytic converter off of my 1987 GN.How would it run?

Legally, Probably not. Otherwise it should run better, Keep in mind, the boost will increase a pound or two from the decrease in back pressure. It may also be helpfull to know someone who will inspect the car for you!

i agree with brian...depending on when you have to get your sticker, leave it on until then..once you get your sticker, remove it

New ma. law
Vehicles built before 1996 will no longer be required to undergo emission testing, So i can get a sticker no matter what :)

I believe this pertains to probing the exhaust. If MA laws are like NY, pre '96's will be required to pass a visual of all factory installed polution equipment.

uhh....no..visual inspection is still required,,,thats why I suggested you get a sticker first then take it off..oops just saw brian's response...what he said:)

The place i go to don't look for things like that.horn light tire's thats all.i have an 88 Mustang GT also,X pipe and Flow's and headers.

Well if it's just a visual inspection you could always take it off and hollow it out.

FWIW, your friend that passes an illegal car can go to JAIL for his actions. Is it worth that to you? I agree...put cat on before inspection and do what you want after inspection. That way you only endanger YOUR future.
