Martin..... My friend from Canada..

This car is a customer from Canada, Martin. His will be the first car with pics as we progress to building his car into a Stage2 powered car. Basically it is being set up to run 9's. We were going to use a GTQ70 Martin had but today, he gave me the go ahead to step it up and we are looking at a new 76ball bearing Turbonetics turbo. We already pulled the engine and trans, emptied out the trunk and will be installing the fuel system and new engine wiring harness from Caspers....

Hey Joe!!!! ;) hehehe, how you doin... funny, I was just going to bed and posted this thread last nite... and there you were already postin... ok, todays update... Brian got about half a day cleaning out the engine compartment of the old harness and misc. yukky wiring... thats right Martin... gutted it!!! :D He just pressure washed the bay, going to try and put some paint in there before we begin installing the wiring... what color do you want it Martin... BLUE.... :D Do you want me to replace that inner wheel well with one that is not all busted up?... we dug a good used one up.. here's a few pics for ya..
One more thing.... you don't need the cruise control back in there do ya?

Ok, here's some of todays work... obviously, getting the top end ready as well as made and painted the fire wall between the fuel cell and back seat..

Ok boyyyzzzz here's the end of the day pics, Bubs did ok, finished up under the hood for now, notice the new drip rail above AC delete, cleaned up the headers for welding and decision time soon as to whether we are modifying for a 4 bolt flanged turbo.... also, a few pics of the trunk and interior where the new fire wall was fabbed and installed.. oh ya and a few pics, getting ready to clearance the pushrod holes and set up the valve train with the newest casted Champion R heads, notice all the extra material at the base of the deck... very nice, these heads keep getting heavier..

and here's a few more... the first one is a new PS inner fender, notice the frame crossmember and steering linkage, cleaned up and painted.. the next pic is the top end being mocked up for pushrod clearance.. and the last 2 are the fuel cell to pump installed, wiring and power coming next... Martain... where do you want your battery.. front or trunk... ;)

My girlfriend and I will be going to Florida next March with my truck and trailer but not with my Buick though...:(..I'll be bringing my Thunderbird to enjoy it down there ...It's been a while since I was able to drive with the top down...While there, I plan to get in touch with Martin and Bob and hopefully have a good meal and maybe go to a "Friday night gathering" in Ft.Lauderdale...
In the meantime, keep up the good work and looking forward to see you at the races next summer!...

"each car in competition must be equiped with a minimum .032 inch aluminum or .024 inch steel firewall, extending from side to side of the body and from top of the engines compartment upper seal ( hood, cowl, or deck ) to the bottom of the floor and/or bellypan. Firewall must provide a bulkhead between the engine and/or fuel tank and driver compartment."

No pictures yesterday, had to jet to Vermont and look at a customers car.. returned late and just did not feel well last nite. In fact I didn't even turn my computor on last nite... here I am now... I'll shoot some pics this morning, Brian finished clearancing the push rod holes, after many hours. Also installed the new B&M shifter...

Hey martin quick question for you. If i'm putting the battery in the trunk i typically cut the spare tire hole out and i replace it with a peice of sheet metal. i can either do this or i can build a shelf inside the spare tire hole and leave it in there. i like to take the spare tire hole out because it looks clean when you look under the car!!!! Let e know asap so i can get it done. Other han that if you can think of anything specific you want me to do let me know and i'll get it done!

Couldn't agree more Jack. Martin, there is probably a +/- $75 difference between Autogage, and Autometer. I think of the Autogauge line as K-Mart variety, and the Autometer line as being for someone who is serious about their motor. I prefer the Pro-Comp series. HTH, Brian

If you remember Martian..... I replaced the heads with the newest casting from Champion... their deck height is different, the rockers were also upgraded at that time and the geometry is different, hence different length pushrods. When Bobby from RPE came up and set up the valvetrain, he checked out the lifters, and determined he modifies the lifters differently so he took care of that while we had the opportunity. Just looking out for you Martian.... I know we haven't met our tiome table..... it's not for lack of effort, just trying to be thorough and doing the job the best we can, for your benefit. :)
